"A place for those who have experienced a true miracle."

White Rainbow- True Story Below...

White Rainbow

A miracle Story... one of mine.

“Where do you start?”

I drove up to Northern Ontario with a friend who had a family cottage on a lake. I had never been there before. Very rustic and beautiful. It had been in the family for two generations.

We stayed up until well past midnight. It was perfect. Clear sky – stars that you could almost touch.

We were sitting around the camp fire and I noticed that the tree line was still quite bright which I thought odd for that time of night and I asked my friend if there was town nearby - a bit of light pollution perhaps, and he said no.

We took his boat out and drifted out to the middle of the lake to enjoy the night and we thought that there was a bit of a fog on the lake at first but there wasn’t. We realized that the glow was the northern lights shimmering over the tree line reflecting off of the lake. But it wasn’t just any Aurora. It was white – pure white.

And then a full moon began to rise over the lake and we thought to ourselves, wow, we are really seeing something, and started smiling. So, I asked my friend if he had ever seen the northern lights up here and he said no, never, not in the thirty years he had been there.

The moon continued to rise as the Aurora slowly changed to form a soft, white rainbow from one end of the sky to the other as far as the eye could see.

And it just stayed there, not shimmering any longer. It just stayed there high above the pines.

That is when we noticed a large, red star on the horizon and realized that it was Mars rising in the distance – I think they said it was the closest it was going to be in thousands of years. So now this was all just too surreal and we stopped laughing.

We were both absolutely silent trying to make sense of it all when shooting stars begin to streak across the sky. Dozens of them.

White rainbow, full moon, mars rising and shooting stars…”

It was then that I closed my eyes to fight back the emotions. The gift of the night, and the thought that if there was ever a time to be in awe it was then so I just stayed quiet and said a prayer."

“What is it?”

“I am not sure that you would believe me if I told you,” David putting his duffle bag down and giving her a kiss.

“Where do you start?” shaking his head in disbelief.

“Where do you start?” he repeated.

“What happened? Is everything ok? You’re scaring me.”

“No, no. It’s just…”

“Everything is fine. Kayle is fine. It’s just that when we were up at the cottage we stayed up until well past midnight. You know the lake. It was perfect. Clear sky – stars that you could touch.”

“And then I noticed that the tree line was still quite bright which I thought odd for that time of night and I asked Kayle if the town nearby had grown over the years since I had been there - a bit of light pollution perhaps, and he said no.”

“Anyway, we hopped in his boat and drifted out to the middle of the lake to enjoy the night and we thought that there was a bit of a fog on the lake but it wasn’t. We realized that the glow was the northern lights shimmering over the tree line reflecting off of the lake. But it wasn’t just any Aurora. It was white – pure white.”

“What would have?,” she started to ask but he continued.

“And then a full moon began to rise over the lake and we thought to ourselves, wow, we are really seeing something, and started smiling. So, I asked Kayle if he had ever seen the northern lights up here and he said no, never, not in the thirty years he had been there.”

She smiled and said, “That is a wow.”

“How did the rest of the trip go?” moving his duffle bag into the kitchen.

“No, wait. There is more.”

“More?”

“Lots.”

“The moon rises, right, and then the Aurora slowly changes and forms a soft, white rainbow from one end of the sky to the other. No kidding,” David, now pacing and entranced by the memory – his hands forming the arc as he saw it.

“And it just stayed there, not shimmering any longer. It just stayed there high above the pines.”

“And that is when we noticed a large, red star on the horizon and realized that it was Mars rising in the distance – I think they said it was the closest it was going to be in thousands of years. So now this is all just silly and we stop laughing.

“Now,…

“Wait for it,” his eyes trying to comprehend.

“We are both absolutely quiet trying to make sense of it all when shooting stars begin to streak across the sky. Dozens of them.”

“So, white rainbow, full moon, mars rising and shooting stars…”

“It was then that I closed my eyes to fight back the emotions and thought about you, the gift of the night, and thought that if there was ever a time to be in awe it was then so I just had to say a quiet, little prayer.

“What do you do with that?” he asked, searching her for answers; shaking his head.

“What do you do with that…?”
