She never did tell me where she was going or where
she had been. I had been content to be with
her for just as long as she could stay."
The day that she moved out, she left the front door open. I thought... No. I hoped that she did it for me. I sat on the floor in front of the fireplace that had become my favourite place to be. Ever. And I lit a fire.
There was a small wicker basket with two wine glasses, our Italian Merlot and a note. I thought for a while as memories filled the room. So, I poured us both a glass, set hers by the fire and sipped a little while I held the note in my hands.

I thought about the many beginnings in my life and how many lights have remained lit ever since. I stared at our fire. What do you do when you truly fall in love only to have it be the leaf you can never catch?
